Oil portraits usually require four sittings from life, of at least three hours each. Sittings can take place either in the client’s house or artist’s Oxfordshire studio. A charcoal sketch is often undertaken as a preliminary step in an oil portrait and if so, this is included in the price.
Prices for adults and children start at £7,200 (+ VAT) for a head and shoulders portrait in oil, and range up to £16,000 (+ VAT) for a full length.
